Parent Corner: Attendance! Attendance!
How important is attendance? Extremely important!
If your child is currently receiving speech therapy, please attend. Poor attendance not only affects your child's therapy session time, but potential results. SLP's make recommendations on frequency, length and duration in their plan of care for your child's benefit. If the SLP recommends therapy twice a week for 45 minutes you can understand it's only 90 minutes per week. Please keep in mind that practice makes better!
We understand that unexpected events occur and you may need to cancel. We advise that you become familiar with your providers attendance policy. Here are some tips to follow if you need to cancel or reschedule:
- Call the office to let them know you are running late
- Call the office to let them know you need to cancel
- If you cancel, please try and reschedule for a different time
Please keep in mind that each office has different policy's. Insurance providers may also have their own policy regarding attendance. Becoming familiar with the attendance policy and the importance of attendance will only benefit the patient.
